Directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, Free Solo, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, documents Honnold’s meticulous preparations for the free solo climb, as well as the film crew’s own daunting task of capturing the historic feat. According to The New York Times, “Alex Honnold’s Free Solo climb should be celebrated as one of the great athletic feats of any kind, ever.” That doesn’t make it any easier to watch – so if you are really afraid of heights, you might want to pass on this one!
