Sleepaway Camp (1983)

“. . . you won’t be coming home!” Another early ’80s slasher film that once again takes place at a summer camp (in this case “Camp Arawak”), Sleepaway Camp (AKA Nightmare Vacation) is the perfect film to catch in the early morning hours when you’re bored, drunk, hungover or all of the above. With totally over-the-top acting, a twisted sense of humor, outrageous acts of violence and a mind-bending finale, Sleepaway Camp has managed to gain quite the cult following over the years. Directed by Robert Hiltzik, Sleepaway Camp stars Felissa Rose as “Angela,” Jonathan Tiersten as “Ricky,” Karen Fields as “Judy,” Mike Kellin as “Mel” and Christopher Collet as “Paul.” Watch at your own risk! Several sequels have been made such as Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988) and Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland (1989), both of which are notable for starring Bruce Springsteen’s younger sister, Pamela.
