Go (1999)

“A weekend wasted is never a wasted weekend.” I was thoroughly entertained by this black comedy/crime thriller directed by Doug Liman (Swingers), a fast-paced, energetic romp through Los Angeles by a group of aimless teenagers in search of drugs and kicks. The screenplay cleverly intertwines the screwed up lives of these nihilistic characters – from a supermarket to a drug deal gone sour to a rave club to a sleazy strip club in Vegas. If this is starting to sound like a poor man’s Pulp Fiction, you’re right on target. Where does this film ultimately lead? Absolutely nowhere, but it’s an enjoyable ride nonetheless! The cast includes William Fichtner, Katie Holmes, Sarah Polley, Scott Wolf, Jay Mohr, Taye Diggs, Timothy Olyphant, Desmond Askew, Breckin Meyer and J. E. Freeman. Fichtner portrayed “David ‘Sully’ Sullivan,” one of the ill-fated crewmen aboard the Andrea Gail in The Perfect Storm (2000).
