Trash (1999)

“One of the first things you learn growing up in the parks is that life is tough and it ain’t always fair.” Two high school rednecks from the wrong side of the tracks attempt to score with some rich chicks with tragic results. One of the guys is a potential writer and the other is a total fuck-up. The movie’s tagline says it all: “Nothing’s easy on the edge.” The cast includes Jeremy Sisto, Eric Michael Cole and Jaime Pressly. The budget for this film must have been about 80 bucks and yet it is more entertaining than about 90 percent of the big-budget films out there. Bottom line: A nice character study about the burden of dreams in a dead-end town. Directed by University of Florida graduate Mark Anthony Galluzzo, Trash was filmed on location in Gainesville, Florida.
