Richard Belzer

Richard Jay Belzer

1944-Present

A native of Connecticut, Richard Belzer started his stand-up career in New York City, performing at The Improv, Catch a Rising Star and other comedy clubs. He was later the audience warm-up comedian for Saturday Night Live during its premiere season. Belzer is perhaps best known for his role as “Sgt. John Munch” in Homicide: Life on the Street and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In addition, Belzer has penned several books, including UFOs, JFK and Elvis: Conspiracies You Don’t Have to be Crazy to Believe.
