We caught a performance from singer-songwriter Brad Payne in a St. Augustine bar in 2007 and ended up buying his CD, Acoustic Storm. We spent some quality time hanging out with Brad and discussing some familiar haunts like the infamous Deck Bar at the legendary (and sadly demolished) Carolinian Hotel in Nags Head, North Carolina, where he had entertained regularly and I had drunk myself into a stupor on many occasions. Brad has a lot of quality original material such as "Broken Promises," "Earl" and the haunting ballad, "Gypsie Princess." I'm looking forward to listening to more of his music!

UPDATE: I was saddened to hear that Brad Payne died on December 17, 2008, at the age of 43 due to complications from pneumonia. His official website, www.bradpayne.com serves as a celebration of his life and music. He will be missed by all but never forgotten . . .
